CEA Awards Grants
November 13, 2001
The Construction Employers’ Association (CEA) has awarded grants to five universities as part of its Construction Management University Grant Program.
Each of the following universities that applied for grants received funding from CEA: University of California, Berkeley; California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo; California State University, Chico; California State University, Sacramento and Stanford University.
The CEA Construction Management University Grant Program Committee provided the grants based on such factors as impact to the building construction industry and quality of the grant proposal.
CEA presented California State University, Chico with the 2001 Donald L. Warmby Leadership Award in recognition of its first-place grant award. California State University, Chico received the grant to design and develop a construction management selection/placement database system that is accessed by employers via the internet.
Additional grants were awarded to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California State University, Sacramento and California State University, Chico to collectively develop a web-based Materials of Construction course. Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley were also awarded grants to assist their respective construction management programs.
Donald Warmby, who passed away earlier this year, was instrumental in initiating CEA's Construction Management University Program to support and promote quality construction management education and develop long-term relationships with the participating universities.
