Mayor Willie Brown Salutes Industry and Labor Leaders
October 17, 2002
Mayor Willie Brown opened the Construction Employers’ Association and San Francisco Building Trades Council fourth joint conference in San Francisco last week.
The conference, co-chaired by Larry Mazzola, President of the San Francisco Building Trades Council and Larry Nibbi, of Nibbi Brothers, Inc., discussed the issues confronting San Francisco’s unionized building construction industry.
Both chairmen emphasized the conference’s importance in building and maintaining trust and cooperation between labor and management.
In opening the conference, Mayor Brown stated that ongoing construction in San Francisco continues to be important to the city.
Of primary concern to both labor and management was the decline in construction work, particularly office building, in the last eighteen months.
The conference stressed the importance of ongoing cooperation between labor and management on the jobsite and in addressing broader city issues as well.
